Here are a few links to groups with which I have been associated and which will offer more information than is possible in this website. The first group is interpreting related. The second reflects current personal interests.

 

 AIIC:  The French acronym for the International Association of Conference Interpreters. I was a long-time member, still applying their recommendations, and grateful for their work for our profession.

ATA:  American Translators Association. Active organization in the field of translation, with a branch also dedicated to interpretation. I’m not a member, but have published and presented to them on several occasions.

 ETI:  My alma mater in Geneva, Switzerland They’re still in business and have, reportedly, become much nicer than they were in my day.

MIIS:  Monterey Institute of International Studies, now part of the Middlebury System. Its two-year graduate program of Translation and Interpretation is one of only two graduate programs in the U.S.

UMD:  The University of Maryland is the other US-based interpreting program. I have taught some classes there as well. 

 

 

 FA:   Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous. I have published and frequently speak for this organization, have applied and believe strongly in its principles. Based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Not for the faint of heart.

HCH:  Holocaust Center for Humanity, in Seattle. I worked with them to draw up a power point presentation, presented at their Lunch & Learn Program in November 2020. They do phenomenal work on many fronts!

HSP:  Highly Sensitive Personality. On a personal note, I relate to Alane Freund’s explanation of this trait – one which occurs in 15-20% of the population of (and this is amazing) at least 100 species. If this speaks to you, let me know?
